Microscopic testicular sperm extraction is an invasive micro-surgical retrieval of sperm directly from the man\u2019s reproductive system. It is used for fertility reasons, to help men with obstructive or non- obstructive Azoospermia<\/a>, which is the most severe form of male infertility, and testicular failure. MicroTESE is used mostly to obtain the best quality of sperm for insemination, to get

SURGERY<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

There are two separate stages. A process called<\/span> \u2018\u2019Advanced Testicular Mapping\u2019\u2019<\/span> is <\/span>initially performed, where a fine needle is used to extract testicular tissue from di<\/span>ff<\/span>erent areas, in <\/span>order to find<\/span> viable sperm.<\/span><\/p>\n


If none is found, the doctor then must proceed with the MicroTESE surgery. <\/span><\/p>\n

MicroTESE is performed under general anesthesia. The doctor performs a<\/span> small incision <\/span>in the middle of the scrotum, so that it can be opened, and looked at with an<\/span> operating <\/span>microscope, at 30x-40x magnification<\/span>, in order to take sperm samples from di<\/span>ff<\/span>erent places of <\/span>the testicles. Afterwards, the bleeding is stopped, and the testis are closed with very fine stitches.<\/span><\/p>\n

There is only<\/span> minimal pain<\/span>, as testicles are healing rapidly, and some minor medication <\/span>will be prescribed.<\/span> Patients are asked to refrain from sexual activity, exercise and heavy <\/span>lifting for at least 10 days after the surgery.<\/span><\/p>\n


After examination, if any viable sperm is found, the patient will be notified the next day. At <\/span>that point,<\/span> it will be extracted and frozen in liquid nitrogen, in order to be used later for In-<\/span>Vitro Fertilization.<\/span><\/p>\n
